I only new this today when the caretaker informed me during his washing runs. He had confirmed this when he knocked on her door several times but there was no answer. Clearly she had set me up for a wild goose chase.

"Kwani unamtaka?"
"Yes."
Then I saw an opportunity to extract valuable information from the guy. So I dashed inside my one room house and took a packet of cigarettes. I never smoke them since they weren't mine. They belonged to Miriam, my ex's best friend who often popped in for some nice meal and some hot sex.
The caretaker never missed this chance to have a free cancer stick. I lit his and mine and watched him smoke it to the stub while mine burnt itself out.
"Rasta, huyo dem ni balaa. Shida tupu."
"Mbona?"
He took another stick and hid it inside his pocket. I gave him another one and took a short puff on my stick.
"Wazazi wake. Buda ni polisi na mathe ni matron huko Londiani Girls.. Tena huyo dem sio mtu wa ku trust."
"Simo, enda straight kwa point yako."
"Yaani, ako na list kubwa hivi."
He gestured to emphasise his point. So clearly, she didn't come back yesterday because after school or wherever she went to, she had a date with one of his admirers.
"Si tuta compete tu."
"Kama ni ku compete na watu kama Osama, then tayarisha mazishi."
With that, he left to carry on his duties in the plot. I stashed away the cigarette and trooped back inside my one room house.
Clearly there were many people after her heart or body like me. But when It is 'Osama' my boss's violent big brother who had served time in prison, then a reasonable option would be to back off.
Trouble is, I rarely give up. Not without a good fight.
So come this week, I will still be on her case till she either tells me to back off or Osama does it himself.
