I was surprised to see her. Genuinely surprised. After a month since our break-up, I wasn't expecting her to step at my door at that hour of the night.
Remember, she's also a candidate and a boarder too!
"Sasa? I've missed you sana."
"Me too. How's school?"
"Shida tu. Akina Miriam ashaanza paper." She made herself comfortable on my unmade bed. She wasn't in the mood for supper but she made herself a nice warm cup of milk. That meant that the next day I had to fetch a new one.
She hated news
I switched on the news but she wouldn't like to watch it. She hated news. Not when the cute boys are slitting throats of slay queens. That reminds me, I studied journalism for three long years yet the millennial kids out here don't read the fucking newspapers or watch the bloody news. All they care for is Lit 360, 10 over 10 and Being Bahati among other crappy series and goddamn American series.Sorry for the rant, I got carried away.
Long story short, we had the best sex ever. Never mind that I had Mission Impossible: Fallout still running on my laptop. For two straight hours, we were on each other's body. It was clear that she too missed me given that she rode me like hell!!
"Kwani what have you been up to?"
'Job tu. Its been hard getting someone like you."
"Oh, wacha uwongo. Rasta akose dem?"
She didn't believe me. She told me about Steve the boring boy in her locale with whom she had been trying to pass time with. She was getting bored with the guy and had to do something drastic.
"I came over to see you."
"Santi..Na shule, kwani ulido?"
"Fees."
Then she reminded me of Miriam, that they had split. I knew why but she nevertheless told me about it.
"She was just jealous of me." That was all she could say. before we slept till morning.

Early in the morning, I was back from the shop with my milk after escorting Doris back to her place when I saw Shayla, my neighbour's daughter. As usual, I said hello and passed on but she held me back.
"Rasta, yule alikuwa nani?"
"Who?"
'That girl mlitoka naye asubuhi?" So she was watching me?"
"No one. Si umechelewa?" I wanted her to leave me alone. I also didn't want to be seen with her. She had her school uniform on you know.
"Nitakam tuongee baadaye." She left without waiting for my answer. I was like, game on!
So tonight, I have a date with Shayla.
